Q&A

Magic Jack does provide Business phone service at a low price but you are required to pay for each additional PBX feature like auto attendant, voicemail to email, call queues and call groups etc. Virfon includes all of these features at one low price. Virfon also includes a USA and International phone number in the basic package.

A PBX, or public branch exchange, is the name used to refer to the technology that a telephone provider uses to route calls. Originally, a PBX was a large unit of hardware that had to be stored on site and operated by hand. These machines could be very costly for a company, as they were large, needed special storage facilities, needed regular repairs, and had to be operated manually.

Companies with multiple phones and many employees can’t function properly without some kind of PBX technology in the office. In more recent years, a PBX could be made to operate automatically, without an operator, but even these devices were expensive and complicated. And if a business needed to move to a new location, or add or remove a phone line, the process could be very costly and time consuming.

Cloud-based” means that the core technology infrastructure and global network providing the business phone system functionality is located in our multiple secure data centers and delivered to your business over the Internet. This eliminates the need for capital investment and the hassle of installing and managing complex hardware in your office..

-No large up-front investment is required.
-Long distance and international calls are much cheaper.
-You can get local virtual numbers in cities where you’re not physically located, so you could, for instance, run a virtual office based in New York, Bogota Colombia or Caracas Venezuela if you wanted to.
-Employees can work from anywhere using your business phone system.
-With hosted PBX your small business has the “look and feel” of an enterprise-level phone system.
-Hosted PBX allows you to easily add lines as they are needed.
-Hosted systems can be up and running much faster than traditional PBX systems.
-Changes can be made to the system at any time by emailing changes to customercare@virfon.com or by calling 1888-673-1053

To the user, a hosted PBX works just like a traditional PBX system. Parties are reached through their phone extension number, interoffice communication can be done by simply dialing extensions, and callers are routed to the proper call recipient by dialing an extension, going through an auto-attendant feature, or being transferred. The difference with hosted PBX is that the core, or “guts” of the call control system are located elsewhere and are accessed over the internet. Hosted PBX is, in other words, a way to run a PBX phone system in the cloud.

Hosted PBX allows small and medium sized businesses to have sophisticated telecommunications without the huge initial capital expenditure required for traditional PBX systems. Hosted PBX systems are maintained by Virfon Business and they have sophisticated features for the needs of the 21st century workforce. These systems work by connecting calls via broadband, and the only hardware required on the premises is the phone handsets (or headsets) themselves.

The most important companies in the world have already moved to IP phone systems. Hosted PBX y is an unavoidable trend. The call quality is as good as the old analog ones, as long as you rely in a provider, as experienced as Virfon.

Yes! Most if not all Service providers allow their customers to add or reduce their services without penalty. Just as long as they do not cancel all their services. So, if you have more than one service, i.e. Internet, phone and Cable TV, with a services provider (Comcast, AT&T, BlueStream) you can transfer your voice/phone service to Virfon Business, leaving the other service under the contract. If you only have a number of phone lines including a fax line with a service provider, you can transfer all the Voice/phone lines to Virfon Business and leave just the fax line with your current provider. there by saving you hundreds of dollars per month. After the contract expires you simple move the fax number over to Virfon.

Yes! In the US, there is number portability, so any number can be ported / transferred to any provider.

In those countries that allow number portability (i.e. Brazil), Virfon can port your existing number to our in-country carrier and route inbound calls from that number to your Virfon PBX system. Most countries though do not allow number portability. Those cases the calls received in your existing number can be call forwarded to the new number Virfon assigns to you. Also, a FXO device (SPA-3000) can be purchased, and we will help you configure it, so that your existing phone line connects to the Internet. This device will allow inbound calls to be routed to your Virfon PBX system. In order for this to work you must have a physical presence in that country.

The only difference callers notice is that they may have access to more features than with traditional PBX systems. When a customer or client calls your business number, the call may be answered by a receptionist or an automated greeting. The receptionist may route the call, or, if the system was answered with an automated greeting, the caller may dial an extension, listen to product information, or use a “dial-by-name” directory to reach the intended party.

If a caller needs to talk to someone else after the initial recipient, the call can be routed seamlessly, even if the second contact is in a different city. For example, someone in your Miami office may need to transfer a caller to a tech support worker. This call can reach the tech support worker whether she is telecommuting, working at her desk in Bogota, or traveling on business with her mobile phone, and it’s all completely seamless to the caller.

With a traditional PBX system in a small business of 20 or so people, you’ll start out with an investment of at least $10,000 to $20,000 for equipment, installation, and setup. Monthly upkeep can cost $300 to $400, and that’s before the cost of long distance or international calls is factored in. By contrast, your up-front investment with a hosted PBX system is just the cost of the handsets, which cost around $49 each. Your monthly expense will also be significantly reduced, especially if you have personnel or stakeholders in different locations. In most cases companies see cut their monthly phone bill 30%-50%.

There is no PBX hardware to install or technical contractors needed for an on-site setup to start using your phone system. Once you’ve purchased Virfon Business, and you have received your activation email, you can immediately start making and receiving calls. We have Account Specialists available by calling 1(888)673-1053, by email (customerservice@virfon.com) or by chat to help you set up your existing IP phones, extensions and customize your Auto-Receptionist, answering rules, and to show you how easy it is to use the advanced call management features.

No additional telephone lines, PBX hardware, or installation are needed. Virfon Business will work with any high-speed, stable internet connection and requires a minimum of 64 kbps of bandwidth per call. You need a router that will make the internet connection available to your phones/devices.

For best voice quality, we recommend a router that is QoS (Quality of Service) enabled. By configuring your QoS router to prioritize the voice traffic over other internet traffic, you’ll experience better voice quality when your internet is being used for other activities (e.g., downloading large files, watching online videos, etc.).

To ensure voice data can flow through your network router, we recommend enabling port triggering from within your router’s configuration pages. If using IP phones, enable port triggering: 5060-5090, Type: UDP
16384-16482, Type: UDP

Because Virfon Business is cloud-based, it’s not dependent on your power or internet connection to continue receiving calls.

Use your mobile phone as one of your forwarding numbers, so even if your office internet or power is lost, your calls can still be made and received from your cell phone and even show your business number (Virfon iPhone or Android App). Even your voicemail can be accessed from your email.

NO. Virfon guarantees a smooth and uneventful transition so, none of your employees, providers or customers notice the change. Even your current US number can be ported to your system, so not even you can experience any pain. The only difference will be a positive one, when the next bill arrives.

– It is important to know how customer works in order to offer the best way to communicate. As an example, If an user belongs to a sales department, the app will be the best way to send and received calls because of mobility, if not, an IP Phone connected to the internet provider and placed in his desktop should work.
– Softphone is fine when customer agreed to expend money in a license to work with it, that means, buy the features that are not present in a free soft phone like: hold button, codec g729, transfer and others, however, softphone will use all the machine resources and this could be an issue if customer doesn’t have a proper machine to deal with tasks and process that softphone will use.
